North Coast Basketball partners with AAU Australia to lead AAU NSW

NCB Partners with aau australia

North Coast Basketball has partnered with AAU Australia to become the licensed provider for AAU New South Wales. This partnership will increase exposure for North Coast Basketball athletes, and bring elite players, teams, and programs to the North Coast of NSW to compete in AAU Tournaments. AAU NSW will join AAU QLD & AAU VIC to enhance elite basketball in Australia.

WHAT IS AAU?

Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Sport has become synonymous with the development of young players. Over the years, the AAU has evolved into a comprehensive system with various levels of competition aimed at players of all abilities and ages.

AAU basketball comes with a lot of different names. Officially it stands for the Amateur Athletic Union. It can also be referred to as club basketball or travel basketball. Generally, it refers to non-school/association teams that are competing in large tournaments & events.

The AAU plays a significant role in the development of young athletes, particularly in sports like basketball, where it provides a platform for competitive play and exposure to college scouts.

In order to achieve your potential as a sportsman, you must compete against the best teams and players. The AAU players can compete against the best of the best and have a greater chance to be noticed by a coach who may offer them a scholarship in the future.

AAU EXPOSURE

One of the most critical aspects of AAU Sport is the exposure it offers to college coaches and scouts. National Australian and USA events are where the best talent comes together to compete. These events attract college coaches from different levels, including NCAA Division I, II, and III, as well as Junior colleges and top USA universities.

Our AAU games are filmed and uploaded to AAU Australia’s Youtube channel for scouts and college coaches to access. Last year AAU Australia helped 23 players secure scholarships to play College Basketball.

AAU PHILOSOPHY

To focus on the game of basketball without the politics involved in youth sport. The only politics that matter in AAU Sports Australia is Talent.

The AAU philosophy – Sport to be more inclusive for all, with children to feel known, valued and heard no matter where they live, what age they are, and regardless of their appearance, cultural or social background, and gender identity.

North coast basketball aau program

North Coast Basketball is now an affiliated AAU club that will create teams in each region to represent NCB at AAU sanctioned events.

Our 3 regions are:

(Optional) = in-between locations where players can choose one or the other, not both.

North Coast Basketball will be running Talent Identification Camps during the April school holidays to assess talent and find players that are wanting to join our AAU program & play more basketball. Players selected will participate in frequent team training sessions in their region and compete against the other NCB regions during the AAU tournament breaks.

Our regional teams will be fighting for the NCB Cup which will determine which region has the strongest players, teams, & age groups. Once every year, our coaches will select the top players from the combined regions to represent North Coast Basketball All-Stars at AAU Nationals. This years National event will be held in Brisbane during October.

North Coast Basketball will also focus on coaching development as we look for coaches to lead our NCB regional teams. Coaches will work closely with Robert Linton in guided team training sessions and be provided plans and resources to lead & replicate drills and concepts with their own teams.

The role of NCB Coach is a paid position where coaches will be reimbursed for the time and are required to engage in frequent reviews & coaching development sessions. Parents are not allowed to coach their own children, and players will not be guaranteed a position if their parent is a coach.

HOW can i get involved?

Players must attend our upcoming Talent Identification Camps during the April School Holidays on the following dates & locations in order to be selected for our AAU regional programs:

Our NCB coaches will assess players and invite athletes to the next stage of trials for their region. Squads will be selected for each age group and have multiple training sessions before the final cut is made. This will give players multiple opportunities to demonstrate their skills and prove why they deserve a roster spot.
